1.Getting Started

The intent of this interactive demonstration is to display the feature set of the RTG, Inc 904 - 907 Integrated Circuits.

The speed of your computer may affect the appearance and timing of this demonstration.

The main display area represents the LED light source at various brightness levels by using a distant light concept. Buttons represent typical interfaces found on portable lighting devices. A meter represents relative battery life on a logarithmic scale. Actual battery life depends on the battery size and technology used.

Buttons on this interface may be clicked or held down to activate the desired feature. Some features require a button to be held down for longer than 2 seconds.

2.ON / OFF and TOGGLE Buttons

The ON / OFF and TOGGLE buttons represent the EN and MO inputs, respectively.

Use the ON / OFF SWITCH or TOGGLE button to turn the light on.

The EN pin can enable the device through a mechanical switch (as shown) or light sensor. When the EN pin is active (SWITCH is ON), the device is enabled. When the EN pin is inactive (SWITCH is OFF), the device is disabled.

The MO pin can enable the device through a momentary contact switch that toggles the device between enabled and disabled states. The EN input overrides the MO input when the SWITCH is ON so that the TOGGLE switch does not disable the device.

Mode and brightness settings are retained while the device is disabled.

3.DOWN and UP Buttons

Click the DOWN button:

or UP button:

to change brightness.

There are 15 brightness levels. The default brightness is 11. Brightness level is retained while the device is disabled (light is off).

The buttons can also be held down to continuously ramp brightness.

4.FB (Full Brightness) Button

The Full Brightness button is held down to immediately transition to full brightness at any time.

Releasing the Full Brightness button reverts to the prior brightness setting.

5.Low Battery Demonstration

The 904 - 907 devices will maintain the selected brightness level without dimming until battery life is exhausted. In order to warn the user of a low battery condition, a Low Battery Warning feature has been implemented in the product.

Low Battery warning signal intervals and shut-off time have been greatly shortened for demonstration purposes. Low Battery shut-off time is dependent on the brightness setting and type of battery used in the end user application.

For demonstration purposes only, the Low Battery Warning feature is only demonstrated at maximum brightness. Actual 904 - 907 devices will indicate Low Battery Warning at all brightness levels as well as during Flashing beacon mode.

To demonstrate the Low Battery warning feature, adjust brightness to maxiumum using the UP button and click the LOW BATTERY DEMONSTRATION button to simulate a low battery condition.

In Low Battery Warning mode, the device will indicate low battery by periodically blinking as the battery reaches a discharged state. The device will shut off when the battery reaches its minimum voltage (discharged).

6.Switching Modes

Switching between modes in the end user application is controlled by the DOWN and UP buttons.

For demonstration purposes, the DOWN + UP button (located between the DOWN and UP buttons) will be used:

The DOWN + UP button is the equivalent to physically pressing both DOWN and UP buttons at the same time.

Enabling the Flashing beacon and SOS modes requires pressing both DOWN and UP buttons for 2 or more seconds.

7.Auto Shut-off

Auto Shut-off warning signal intervals and Auto Shut-off length have been greatly shortened for demonstration purposes. The demonstration will warn the user after 8 seconds of inactivity to indicate that Auto Shut-off will soon take place. The demonstration will warn the user over a period of 16 seconds, and then disable itself (light off) if neither DOWN or UP buttons have been pressed.

To enable the Auto Shut-off feature, adjust brightness to maximum using the UP button.

Once brightness is at maximum, hold the UP button down for 4 seconds.

The device will indicate that Auto Shut-off has been enabled by blinking 4 times.

When Auto Shut-off is enabled, the product will warn the user after 16 minutes of inactivity. The warning period will last an additional 2 minutes. If neither DOWN or UP buttons are pressed during the warning period, the device will automatically shut off.

To disable Auto Shut-off, adjust brightness to minimum using the DOWN button.

Once brightness is at minimum, hold the down button down for 4 seconds.

The device will indicate that Auto Shut-off has been disabled by strobing to full brightness 4 times.

8.Flashing beacon & SOS

To enter Flashing beacon mode, hold down the DOWN + UP button down for 2 seconds

To enter SOS mode, first enter Flashing beacon mode.

Release the DOWN + UP button, then hold it down again for another 4 seconds.

To exit Flashing beacon or SOS modes, hold the DOWN + UP button down for 1 second.
